The BEST Sweet Potatoes Ever!

The Best Sweet Potatoes Ever!!!!

Sweet potatoes have been a favorite in our house for as long as I can remember.  From my children smacking their lips and clapping their hands with each bite as babies to my kids requesting them to be a part of Sunday dinner on a regular basis, sweet potatoes have been a part of our meals for a long while.  Now it wasn’t until recently that I perfected the recipe and consistency set out these amazing sweet potatoes!  I mean for a while, they were hit and miss and I would literally hope that they were good!

Well, because this is a Thanksgiving Series, I decided that Im going to give up my awesome recipe so that you can be sure to please everyone, Thanksgiving Day!  Plus, this recipe is almost fool proof and the most ammeter cook can make these babies effortlessly!

For thanksgiving I usually just double this recipe but if you’re only cooking for your family of 5 or less this is the perfect recipe for you.

First you need 3 large sweet potatoes.

Go ahead and peel and slice them in 3/4 inch slices, wash them and set them aside.  It’s important that they are all about the same size so that they cook at the same speed.  The last thing you want is hard a extra mushy sweet potatoes all in one pot.

Next you want to get out a pot.  I usually use a 6qt pot that you can pick up at Walmart for about $7 (if you don’t already have one)

Then you want to go ahead and add your ingredients into your pot

8 tablespoons of butter

1 1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 nutmeg

3 cups of water

1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Once you add the ingredients in the pot, let it come to a boil.  Add in your sweet potato slices and cover.  Let cook on medium for about 45 minutes or until soft.

Once they are soft and dark you know that you have the best sweet potatoes in the world coming right up!

I hope you enjoy!
